class of 2007

December 17th, 2007

before we proceed with 2008 and the delights that will certainly entail in our fourteenth year of action, this fine compilation offers fourteen homages to the year just gone. we have laid out plenty for your stimulation with hot beat action from meisterfackt and e.stonji, leftist hip-hop by the tape vs. rqm and shadow huntaz & kareem, modern day soul jazz nodding from jimi tenor (live!) and maoi, outsider pop from rhythm king ahf and sportsguitar, ear wetting ‘alt’ from nina hynes & the husbands and maximilian hecker (live!), plus speaker hurting music by mittekill and molloy - all for your aural pleaure. machos meet queers, rappers meet crooners, laptops meet guitars. older but not wiser, we present for you kitty-yo ‘class of 2007′.

hailing from america, wales and germany, the michelles are everyone’s favourite, bona fide mongrel band, who have now rooted themselves in berlin. taking influences from bands such as the strokes and the beatles, the michelles fire together reliably crunchy guitars with more spontaneous rhythm and melody than your average boy band. having gigged like wild fire over the summer they are now releasing ‘sober rain’, a wonderful follow up to their super hit single ‘springtime’, which was featured in julie delpy’s film ‘two days in paris’. check their artist site.
