TARWATER are the masters of magical transformation. though their first release was a dark homage to the english poet-preacher JOHN DONNE, the band´s second album "11/6 12/10" came as a surprise with its collection of most elegant trip-hoppy bar jazz.
with RABBIT MOON they offer us a many-faceted and enormously suspenseful album of mixes and remixes, harder and more electronic than its predecessors, yet danceable in a complex but amusing way: RABBIT MOON contains mixes and remixes by TARWATER, as well as by musicians and DJs from their musical milieu.
while organizing and assembling the tracks, they did not make distinctions between their "own" work and "commissioned" work. on this album, you´ll find remixes in the classic sense such as "rome", by TARWATER, as well as "11/6 12/10 Mix" by BERLINER ELETKRONAUTEN / DATEC, which make the scenery of this debut album melt into a collage.
RABBIT MOON also includes a number of new tracks by TARWATER, such as the title song or TRANSFRANCISCO, which can be heard as special mixes and give you an overview of the project´s upcoming work. the ascetic soundscapes of BO KONDREN (CALYX MUSIC PRODUCTION) an DJ Plus (ROBERT LIPPOK / TO ROCOCO ROT) are further reactions to TARWATER material.
Overall, RABBIT MOON is clearly more electronic and in a certain sense more club-oriented than it´s predecessor, but does not refrain from the element of the obscure and the theatrical.
in march 1998 CAPSTACK RECORDS / Chicago releases the RABBIT MOON REVISITED CD as an extended version of the original material. KITTY_YO's first licensing to north america.
