Part 2
Jay Haze has arrived on Planet Berlin, after moving from Philadelphia to Amsterdam. Jay Haze runs three record labels. Tuning Spork is Haze's minimal tech-house label - where he releases under the name the Architect - primarily geared to bring glitch and deepness to the dancefloor -- tracks that make you shake your booty while dousing your head in minimal crackles, scrapes, scrunches, warm tones and rolling basslines. His second label, Future Dub, offers a Jamaican reggae-influenced side of heady and experimental techno-dub -- where he releases under the names Dub Surgeon, Dub Cord and Montage Spiral. His third label is Contexterrior -- dedicated to bringing you ultra-minimal, glitch-heavy, laid-back experimental tracks -- where the listener gets sucked in and impelled to groove 'n' sway to the clean, glitchy, warmly quirky, densely minimal, faintly dubby, head-trippin' chuggers. This is where Haze enjoys luring you into a powerful mental journey through his most dynamic production techniques. The mix for Sex In Dallas is something like a medley from all 3 labels.
To this date, Haze's tracks have been spun by DJs like Richie Hawtin (a.k.a. Plastikman), Ricardo Villalobos, Jeff Milligan, Daniel Bell, Rob Paine (of Solomonic Sound), Sean O'Neal (a.k.a. Someone Else and Flowchart), Deep C (of Tigerhook and Wamdue Kids), Phillip Charles, Jeff Samuel and others.
Manix are Gaga from External Harddrive and Reza who runs the label Entry 1, Gaga also produced the upcoming Sex In Dallas Album “Around the War“,. they took the chance to add some heavy electro guitars on top off a groovy beat, to turn the original into a real electro floor filler.
The 2nd sides starts with a cooperation between Sex In Dallas and Justine Elektra (Melbourne, now: Berlin) A fresh, sensitive and inspiring performer, Justine promises an evening of warm blooming noise. Australian born, Justine Electra has been living in and out of Berlin for the last three years, and is due to release her mini-album later this year. If you enjoy subtle powerful music and harmonica sounds mixed with beats and blues guitars and pacemakers. This cooperation is breaking out the romantic side of Sex in Dallas, sort of electro meets Skunk Anansis.
Finally it is up to Stewart Walker to close this mysterious file of two very diversif 12“es. His discography is just as geographically diverse as the cities he has lived in, right now he is spending some time in Berlin.
Stewart Walker released on Matrix, Mille Plateaux, Tektite, Tresor, Deepfried, Mosquito and Force Inc.
His live sets and many of his 12-inches are decidedly floor-friendly, but he recently wowed home-listening audiences with his full-length debut, "Stabiles," a record as serene and contemplative as the best ambient music, yet far more interested in rhythm than melody. And rhythm is a dancer as he proofs with his Mix. |
